"Few weeks ago we were celebrating our 4th win of the season at Safari Rally Kenya with incredible support from the locals in the most amazing nature. This wonderful country got a place in my heart - and I want to give something back," Ogier wrote on social media saying the Safari Rally was his first time in Africa.
The rally driver was clearly impressed by Kenya's wildlife with several legs of the WRC Safari Rally taking place at Hells Gate National Park.
"Education is the key for a better future so I want to support Nakuru Children's Project with €10,000, and we should do everything in our power to protect this wildlife so I will also make a donation of €10,000 to Ol Pejeta Conservancy," the statement read.
Nakuru Children's Project is a non-profit organisation with a vision of relieving poverty and improving education in Nakuru.
The organisation's founder Zoe Kelland took to social media to express her gratitude for the donation.
"WOW. This is the best surprise social media has ever brought me –thank you Sebastian Ogier for such an incredibly generous donation! €10,000 will go so far! We’ve got some big dreams in the pipeline and this is going to help make them a reality for kids in Nakuru - watch this space!" She wrote on social media.
Sebastien Ogier is a 7-time winner of the WRC having won the overall title 7 times.
He won the Safari Rally after gaining a 21.8 seconds advantage over second-placed Takamoto Katsuta. Both race for Toyota Gazoo Racing Team despite suffering suspension trouble two days before the final day of the rally.
