Hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta committed Ksh50 Billion to counties in the next financial year, Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has commended the move by the executive.
"I commend the executive for committing an extra 53.5B for the counties for 2021/22.As Senate, we shall do everything possible to find the appropriate Win-Win formula for sharing the resources. We are back to the consensus committee in preparation for another sitting on 22/9/2020," part of the statement by Murkomen read.
The Head of State made the announcement after a meeting held at State Hosue graced by ODM leader Raila Odinga and CoG Chairman Wycliffe Oparanya.
"The meeting resolved that depending on the financial performance of the economy, the Government will, in the next Financial Year (2021/22), endeavor to allocate an additional Kshs 50 billion to Counties as part of efforts to strengthen devolution.

"With this undertaking, the President urged Senators to urgently resolve the revenue sharing stalemate at the Senate so as to avoid disruption of service delivery in the Counties," the statement read.
