Prof Magoha: Opening for other students there is consultations in all government levels. On Wednesday we will engage the President then we will call for our internal meeting.

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha has announced that he’ll be meeting President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday November 4, 2020 to deliberate on the full re-opening of schools.

At the moment, only Grade 4, Class 8 and form four students are in school. Over the past two weeks a number of students have tested positive for the corona virus, eliciting debate as to whether schools should be opened this year.


However, CS Magoha argues that students are better in school than at home.

“Opening for other students there is consultations in all government levels. On Wednesday we will engage the President then we will call for our internal meeting,” Magoha said as quoted by the Star.

Addressing recent confirmation of corona virus cases in a number of schools, Magoha called for calm noting that the Ministry and medical officers have taken control, isolating the affected students.

Meanwhile, cases of corona virus have increased in the country with parents and other stakeholders urging the Ministry to close the already opened school for safety of the students.

Uhuru hints at another lock down

On Sunday, President Uhuru Kenyatta hinted at enforcing stringent measures if the number of cases continue to rise.

“We’re going through that very difficult time of saying ‘now what do we do again, do we close up?’ We shall be coming back to that…not today, but soon,” he said while addressing faithful at the All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi County during the 50th anniversary of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK).
