The government has directed immigration officers in Berlin, Germany, and Ottawa, Canada, to issue Lawyer Miguna Miguna with travel documents, Solicitor General Kennedy Ogeto has said.
In a letter dated November 29 and addressed to the President of Law Society of Kenya Nelson Havi, Ogeto said a directive has been issued to immigration officers in those two countries to that effect.
Ogeto confirmed that the Ministry of Interior has cleared the way for Miguna to be issued with travel documents, but upon the filing of requisite forms.
"We advised the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and we have since received confirmation from the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government to the effect that the Department of Immigration has been directed to instruct the immigration officers in Berlin and Ottawa to issue Mr. Miguna Miguna with travel documents upon him filling requisite forms for those documents," Ogeto's letter to Havi reads.

The letter has been copied to Attorney General Kihara Kariuki, Interior CS Fred Matiang'i, Interior PS Karanja Kibicho, Foreign Affairs CS Ambassador Rachael Omamo and Principal Secretary in the Foreign Affairs Ministry Macharia Kamau.
Havi, who is acting for Miguna in court, expressed gratitude to the Solicitor General for heeding the court's directive by advising the government institutions to comply with the ruling.
"Thank you SG Kennedy Ogeto for advising Ministries of Interior and Co-ordination of National Government and Foreign Affairs to comply with the Order and ensure that the Kenyan Embassies in Berlin Germany or Ottawa Canada issue Miguna Miguna with Emergency Travel Documents," Havi said.
Justice Hedwig Ong'undi on November 22, directed that Miguna should be issued with emergency travel documents within 72 hours at the Kenyan High Commission in Ottawa, Canada or Berlin. Germany.
Foreign Affairs CS was directed to effect the directive but Miguna was still denied the documents after seeking them at the Kenyan High Commission in Berlin, Germany.
The controversial lawyer said officials from the Kenyan embassy declined to grant him the emergency travel documents citing orders from the Kenyan government.
It remains a matter of time whether the latest directive will see the Lawyer granted his travel documents.
Miguna was bundled out of the country in 2018 and has since not managed to make a come back into his motherland despite numerous court orders.
