House of Hope Church pastor Laban Kairuki, who ministers at the church's Kiambu branch, expressed his utter shock following the death of his Bishop who he says consecrated his church a few days ago.
"Dad bishop Migwi it's only one and a half weeks ago you blessed my ministry little did know you were saying goodbye. Rest with Angels you have fought a good fight you have finished the race," Pator Kariuki wrote on Facebook.
Another associate of him known as Nelly Shiku wrote: "my heart is broken into pieces and bleeding. Bishop Godfrey Migwi you were not only my friend, my colleague but my Bishop too... Rest in peace man of God".
Despite being a man of God, Migiwi was also famed for being Deputy President William Ruto's stalwart.
When accusations of corruption were directed at the DP, the Nairobi Bishop defended the DP.
"Even if someone is a thief and comes to church, read Corithians11, Paul says 'I was stealing from other places so that I will not bother you'. Therefore if someone steals and brings it to the church I would tell you it is better than a thief who steals and takes to a witch doctor," Bishop Mathioya said.
In his message of condolences, DP Ruto eulogised the late as a "vocal spiritual leader with a great sense of humour".
"He was a mentor and a friend with firm pastoral faith that he infused to many of us. We will miss his topical and nourishing sermons. Our love and prayers to the family, their loved ones and the House Of Hope Church-Kayole fraternity during this sad time," the DP tweeted.
In another sermon where he in appearances was taking a swipe at the ODM leader Raila Odinga, Bishop Migwi said " Mimi siwezi Kubali Mganga akuje kwa kanisa yangu".
Bishop Migwi had declared interest in Mathioya Parliamentary seat on a UDA party ticket.
