Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has fired back at critics calling for his resignation after being caught on camera insulting a junior ministry education official.
Magoha’s conduct led to outrage from Kenyans and other education stakeholders who called on the CS to either apologize or resign.
Speaking on Wednesday, Magoha stated that his conduct is a depiction of how he does his job.
Making the remarks after visiting Kyamutheke Primary School in Machakos, Magoha further rationalized his actions by saying that a small number of those in the field are used to not working.

“Nobody should be surprised at how I do things, I was in KNEC (Kenya National Examinations Council) … I made things work and now I am here to protect the interest of parents and children. Anytime I cannot do that I have no business being here,” he said.
According to the outspoken CS, his conduct is directed to officials who fail to carry out their mandate, respectively. He noted that such officials should not earn salaries.
“If you have 30 schools in your area and, by the end of the month you have not visited even 10, then you have no business getting your salary. implementers must conform or I will make them do. We need to give justice to the children and government that is spending colossal amounts on them,” Prof Magoha said.
Last week Friday, Magoha became the center of attention after a video clip emerged while at Langas Primary School in Eldoret.
The visibly angry CS called the Uasin Gushu country director of education Dr. Gitonga Mbaka as ‘mjinga’ (stupid).
Teachers across the country lashed out at Magoha, calling for his removal from the docket.
