Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga launched her 2022 gubernatorial bid in the company of Azimio La Umoja leaders on Sunday, February 13, 2022.
The county member of parliament also introduced her husband to the people and narrated how they met, and the important role he has played in her life.
She revealed that she hails from Kano, Kisumu County, but her husband, Mr. Wanga is from Homa Bay. The lawmaker recounted that her husband saved her from floods that affected the Kano plains.
“Let me bring forward the man who brought here in Homa Bay from Kano. You know in Kano we are occasionally affected by floods that make us start begging for help from the government.
“The man standing next to me is called George Wanga (her husband), he is the man who went through all the troubles to come to our home in Kano, a place where sometimes we are being swept away by floods, and rescued me. I can’t leave this man because of the great things he has done for me,” Mrs Wanga stated.
After the introduction, Mr. Wanga noted that his wife has been a blessing to him and bears the blessings of the family to run for governor.
He stated that she is qualified and has what it takes to transform the lives of the people of Homa Bay County for the better.
“I am here to inform you that I have released my wife to serve the people of Homa Bay. I want to let everybody know that she has my full support. My only request is that you take care of her,” Mr Wanga stated.
The aspiring governor promised to fight corruption, improve access to healthcare, create more jobs, and improve education across the county.
