Hours after being accused of allegedly colluding with Raila Odinga to rig the August 9, general elections, ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru has answered back Ruto's team.
This was after Ruto's presidential campaign secretariat led by the secretariat’s Director and Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok on Thursday, May 5, lashed out at CS Mucheru, claiming he had openly backed Ruto's competitor Raila Odinga, something that could have a great impact on the next general polls.
In a letter to the IEBC, Ruto's team raised concerns claiming CS Mucheru could influence the outcome of the polls since the ICT ministry will play an important role in facilitating the August exercise.
In particular, Nanok said ICT will be playing a big role in supervising and overseeing the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) which will provide the technological framework for IEBC to conduct digital registration, digital tallying and relaying of election results electronically.
But in a quick retaliation, CS Mucheru laughed off Ruto's team questioning how Ruto, who is still in the same government as him (Mucheru) could write to the IEBC complaining about the use of the government's resources.

According to Mucheru, Ruto and Turkana governor Nanok are still officeholders and are also using government resources for their own activities, hence should not be complaining over the same.
"A Governor, Campaign for a Presidential candidate, who continues to remain as the Deputy President, is writing to IEBC about a CS in the same Government, to explain how he will use resources? How about the Governor and the DP, what resources are they using? Who is fooling who?" posed CS Mucheru.
UDA had also accused Mucheru of abusing State office, misappropriating public resources, perverting State institutions, and defiling the integrity of government in the state's bid to rig in favour of Raila in August
