Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has extended the dusk to dawn curfew in Marsabit county to tame the runaway cases of insecurity in the county.
In a gazette notice dated Tuesday, May 31, Matiang'i said the new curfew order takes effect from June 1, 2022.
The extension will last for a month.
"This Order shall apply during the hours of darkness between Six O’clock in the evening and Six O’clock in the morning with effect from 1st June 2022 and shall remain in effect for a period of thirty days."

During this period, Matiang'i said there shall be no public gatherings, processions or movement, either alone or as a group during the period of the curfew except as has been permitted in writing by the Inspector-General of the National Police Service.
The first curfew was imposed in early May and was to lapse in early June.
Matiang'i, however, did not disclose whether his new order will affect Komu sub-county in Isiolo County and Sololo area near the Kenya-Ethiopia border which was also under curfew in the last 30 days.
The CS then blamed the insecurity in the area on some leaders who are arming their militias from their clans.
The area has been experiencing chaos with gunmen roaming there leaving dozens dead and injured.
The government had given the locals three months to come up with a solution or an operation to be launched in the biggest county.
