The Ministry of Health has announced that the Covid-19 vaccine will be available in the country from February 2021.
According to Health Principal Secretary Susan Mochache, the country is in talk with other nations across the globe in a bid to get access to the vaccine.
“We are moving on well with the testing of our own vaccination drugs and soon, before the end of February, we shall have launched the jab.
“We are moving on with the conversation and we are on the right path in drawing up a roadmap on administration of the vaccine once it is launched,” she said while speaking in Nyamira.

Meanwhile, President Uhuru Kenyatta early this week directed the Ministry of Health to source for the Covid-19 vaccine from China and other countries in Asia even as the search for other alternatives continues.
Addressing the nation on Monday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said the President has given a green light for them to explore other options including countries from the East.
“While Kemri continues to collaborate with AstraZeneca and Oxford University in the trials for this vaccine, the government remains open to other collaborative opportunities… In this regard, Kemri will collaborate with researchers from other countries such as South Korea, India, Singapore and China," he said.
The announcement, therefore, means that the China Covid-19 vaccine which is being tested in Egypt and Morocco can also be tested in Kenya.
