Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has fired at Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i after he ordered the deployment of more security officials in some parts of Nakuru County.
In a tweet on Tuesday, Kihika claimed that it was ridiculous for Matiang’i to order more deployment of General Service Unit (GSU) officers in the areas, alleging that Nakuru was peaceful.
The UDA gubernatorial candidate for Nakuru alleged that the goal of the CS was to cause tension in Nakuru and suppress votes.
“Ridiculous! Matiang'i’s goal is to create tension in Nakuru. Nakuru is peaceful. There is no justification for deploying GSU officers to Molo and Kuresoi. His intention is to suppress the vote in our strongholds,” Kihika tweeted.

The remarks by the lawmaker came after the Interior CS announced the massive deployment of security personnel in Molo, Kuresoi, and Eldoret.
Matiang’i said that the areas had been marked as vulnerable to disturbance ahead of the general election, which is to be held in six days' time.
“Following approval by the National Security Council for additional resources, security services will bolster deployment of personnel and equipment including aerial assets in Molo, Kuresoi, Eldoret and other areas in the country mapped out as vulnerable to disturbance,” Matiang’i stated.
The CS further added that a multi-agency command centre had been established in Nakuru County to provide support to locals drawing attention to security incidents for prompt response by security services.
