Roots Party Leader George Wajackoyah has summoned his presidential running mate in the 2022 general election, Justina Wamae, for her utterances on mainstream media and social media.
In a letter on Monday by the party’s legal director Washika Wachira, Wamae was invited to a disciplinary hearing on August 26 at the party’s Head Office in Karen, Nairobi.
Wachira said that the utterances made by Wamae were against the spirit and stand of the Wajackoyah-led party.
He cited Wamae's remarks on August 3 where she alleged that Wajackoyah had endorsed Azimio’s Raila Odinga for presidency.
The Roots Party legal director also cited utterances by Wamae on August 19 where she congratulated President-elect William Ruto and disparaged the Roots Party.

“That in line with the above and your failure to adhere to the Roots Party Constitution and manifesto, the party finds it in order to invite you for a disciplinary hearing on 26th August 2022 at 2:30 pm at the party’s head office,” read part of the letter.
Wachira stated in the letter that Wamae had continually misrepresented the position of Roots Party and never bothered to go through the party’s constitution.
He intimated that the party had instructions from Wajackoyah that Wamae desists from speaking in public on behalf of the Roots Party failure for which the party would take a legal action against her.
“Take notice: That we have instructions from the party leader to demand which we hereby do that you cease and desist from speaking , uttering or purporting to speak on behalf of the Roots Party of Kenya,” the letter by Wachira further read.
