The family of Nyamira Governor John Nyangarama on Thursday, December 17, issued an update on his health after reports on local dailies indicated he was on life support.
His son, Gideon Momanyi, dismissed the reports stating that the governor was in the hospital and recuperating well.
“This is to inform the general public that the governor is well and recuperating in the hospital and any reports doing the round in social media should be treated as rumours," Momanyi stated.
"Let the media and social media users be responsible and fair to the family and friends of the governor including employees of the county government of Nyamira," he stated.
Life Support
Local dailies claimed that Nyangarama was put on life support on Sunday night and h family called in on Monday after his condition deteriorated.
The governor is said to have been taken to the hospital three weeks ago when he tested positive for coronavirus.
Kenya reported 394 new Covid-19 cases bringing the total caseload to 92,853.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe reported that 810 patients are currently admitted in various hospitals across the country while another 6,172 patients are on the home-based care programme.
