Two people have lost their lives after an aircraft crashed in Kone area along Tiva in Tsavo East National Park.
In a press statement by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), the accident happened on Thursday morning, December 8, while on patrol.
"Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has learned with deep sorrow about a fixed wing aircraft crash that occurred in Kone area along the Tiva in Tsavo East National Park, this morning.," read part of the statement by KWS.
The plane, registration number 5Y-DHS, belonged to David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT) and it had two occupants during the crash.
"The plane, a Cessna 185 registration number 5Y-DHS, belonged to David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT), crashed at around 7.15 hours while on patrol in Huri – the north eastern boundary of the park, regrettably instantly killing both occupants on board," KWS added.

The state corporation stated that KWS and DSWT teams had already reported to the scene to investigate the circumstances leading to the crash.
It expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased.
The crash comes after a light aircraft crash-landed at the Nairobi National Park on September 21, 2022.
The plane had just left Wilson Airport before it went down. The plane had two occupants, who all survived the accident.
