A patient has died outside the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) amid the ongoing strike by workers over delayed pay increase by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
Operations at KNH were halted on Monday after more than 4000 workers at KNH downed their tools.
Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Education Institutions, Hospitals and Allied Workers led by Kenneth Thuranira confirmed the strike had officially begun.
Secretary-general Seth Panyako said they resorted to strike because the SRC had decided to behave like it is the only institutional body in the country.
Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) Secretary-General Seth Panyako accused the SRC of failing to harmonise the salaries despite several government agencies giving the green light.
He emphasized that the workers will not be meeting any government agency to resolve the standoff.
