Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga has weighed in on former First Lady Mama Ngina’s response to President William Ruto and his allies regarding the ongoing tax debate about her family.
Speaking on Sunday, February 4 at Kamukunji Grounds in Kibra, the opposition leader said that the Kenya Kwanza government should respect Mama Ngina.
“Mliona Jana Mama ambaye anaheshimiwa sana Mama Ngina Kenyatta aliongea mambo ya ushuru manake mama huyo ametusiwa na hao watu vibaya sana. Hao watu hawajui pahali Kenya imetoka, huyo mama alikua ameshikwa wakati ile ya maumau akafungwa plae kamiti akakaa kwa muda mrefu Zaidi.
"Sasa mama kama huyo ambaye ni karibu miaka 90 unaenda kumtusi ya nini? Ni rika ya nyanya yako, kama huezi kumheshimu we ni mtu gani? Raila posed.

Mama Ngina on Saturday termed the allegations against her family as pointless and called them ‘lies’.
“Naskia mengine inasemwa ati wengine hawatoi kodi, hawatoi nini...nashangaa kwa sababu kila mtu anaamka kusema hii na mwengine anasema hii, lakini serikali iko na laini yake ya vile mambo inaendeshwa,” she said.
She went on to dare the government to auction her property if the court finds her guilty of evading tax.
“Mtu ashtakiwe alipe ile kitu anatakiwa kulipa. Na kama ni mimi, ata nikiwa na mwaka mmoja nimekosea bila kulipa, mali ichukuliwe ilipe ile tax. Kwa hivyo hakuna haja ya kufanya siasa hivi na vile...na watu wanajua hawasemi ukweli, wanataka tu kusema ndio wasikike eti wanataja majina,” Mama Ngina stated.
