"We have a lot of political failures ambao wanataka kuingia civil service,” Jimi Wanjigi.

Businessman Jimi Wanjigi has asked President William Ruto not to be held hostage by his inner circles in the governance of over 50 million Kenyans.

Speaking in a press briefing on Monday, October 10, Wanjigi said that the Head of State had all the time to put his house in order as Kenyans were watching.

“We want to give President Ruto all the time that he needs because he has inherited a country that is in a very dismal state. But we also want to warn you (Ruto), it is about the people of Kenya, not about leaders.

“We must ask you (Ruto) and urge you, do not be held hostage by those around you in the governance of 51 million Kenyans. It starts now and we are watching,” Wanjigi said.

Wanjigi was reacting to the names of candidates shortlisted by the Public Service Commission for the positions of Principal Secretaries.

The businessman alleged that some of the names shortlisted for PS jobs were relatives to some of the Head of State’s close people.

“Of those 500 people shortlisted, we have noted, not you Mr. President, but some of your people their relatives are there in large numbers, their family members in large numbers. We have a lot of political failures ambao wanataka kuingia civil service,” Wanjigi said.

The businessman said that those who lost in elections should not be given any position in the public service, maintaining that there is enough personnel in Kenya to get the positions.
