Prominent constitutional lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has addressed reports that he plans to vie for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.
This is after posters emerged online indicating that the lawyer is in the race to succeed Mike Sonko who was impeached last week.
However, in a Twitter post, Abdullahi stated that the posters were a result of online cons.
He maintained that he has no political intentions until President Uhuru Kenyatta finalizes his term and DP William Ruto takes over for another ten years as agreed during the formation of the Jubilee Party.
“KAZI YA WAKORA... I'm waiting for H.E UHURU to retire, then kumi ya DP Ruto...then i'm game...confident that BOTH will campaign and support me...InshaAllah,” Abdullahi tweeted.
The lawyer represented President Uhuru Kenyatta during the 2013 and 2017 presidential petition.
The Nairobi by-election is set to be held on February 18 with Jubilee Party yet to announce the flagbearer.
On Thursday afternoon, the party invited interested parties to submit their application for the seat.
