Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga has responded to Dennis Itumbi’s allegations that there is a plan to invade businesses owned by Kikuyus in Nairobi CBD during protests on March 20.
Speaking in Nakuru on Thursday, March 16, Raila assured the Kikuyu business community that Azimio supporters would not attack businesses.
“Jana nimeona Dennis Itumbi ana andika ati kulikua na mkutano ya kupanga kuenda kuvamia bishara ya wakikuyu. Hiyo ni upuzi mtupu nataka wafanyibiashara wakikuyu wasikue na wasiwasi, wasihangaishwe na hiyo porojo. Sisi tutalinda biashara ya kila mtu, wakikuyu walinipigia kura mingi zaidi. Sisi hatuwezi kuharibu biashara ya mtu yeyote,” said Raila.
Itumbi on Wednesday claimed that the former Prime Minister held a meeting with ODM MPs in Karen and planned for the March 20, 2023 protests.

He alleged that the leaders planned to invade businesses of Kikuyu businessmen in Tom Mboya, Riverroad and Moi avenue and at the same time try to access State House.
“They have planned for a Road Show in Nairobi on Saturday and Sunday to mobilize supporters for the demos and destructive chaos Further several people have been allocated cells for the violent demos. The full list is with the DG HNIB.
“The plan is to invade "Kikuyu" business in Riveroad, Tom Mboya and Moi Avenue.. so as to drive police to that side as the second group uses the Sagret route to access State House. A third group will invade Nyayo House where Energy and Immigration offices are housed. The idea is to create 360 degrees chaos,” Itumbi claimed.
