Former Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has lost his aunt Mama Khalida.
Joho shared the sad news in a statement on his Facebook page on Thursday, April 27 saying that Mama Khalida is an elder sister to his late mother.
He described her aunt as a person who was known for her kindness, love and ability to make people valued and special.
“It is with a heavy heart that I mourn the passing of the elder sister of my late mother, my dear aunt, Mama Khalida, and the mother-in-law to my brother Abubakar Joho.
"This is made sadder by the fact that we lost her husband, veteran newsman Salim Mohammed just over a month ago. She was revered by many for her kindness and love, and her ability to make everyone she interacted with feel special and valued. Her wisdom, which she readily and generously shared whenever we called on her will be solemnly missed,” Joho stated.

The former county chief also stated that Mama Khalida will be buried at Sarigoi Cemetry later today after Swalatul Janaza and Swatul Maghrib are conducted.
“May Allah SWT forgive all her trespasses, may He accept all her good deeds and grant her Jannatul Firdaus. Amin. Swalatul Janaza will be conducted this evening at Masjid Sheikh Nurein (TSS Mosque) after Swalatul Maghrib, followed by the burial at Sarigoi Cemetery,” he added.
