Former Kesses Member of Parliament Swarup Mishra on Wednesday, May 17 ditched the Jubilee party for President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Speaking at the UDA headquarters in Nairobi Mishra confessed to making a mistake by supporting the Azimio la Umoja coalition in the 2022 general election.
“I confess today the mistake and the blunder I did. I thought I knew more than everybody, I made the wrong decision, wrong direction, wrong party, and wrong people but today God sent me where I belong with a lot of forgiveness and blessing,” said Mishra.
The former Kesses MP also asked Azimio leaders to give President Ruto time to deliver on his promises saying that the Head of State is a visionary leader
The former MP was joined by notable names from the Asian community including; former Parklands MCA Jayendra Malde, Shravin Patel, Ashif Kassim, Bhaju Patel, Gnanshyam Pabari and Manoj Shah.

UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala welcomed Mishra to the ruling party adding that politicians supporting Azimio can still join Kenya Kwanza.
“Mishra has seen the light and we want to welcome him to our party. We want to urge anyone who is still Azimio to borrow and jump quickly and join Kenya Kwanza,” Malala stated.
He also stated that UDA will bring all minority communities to ensure that they are included in the party.
“The party is mindful of expanding opportunities for inclusion of minority community. We are going to bring on board more Bajuni, Basuba, Teso, Kuria,” Malala added.
Mishra served as the Kesses MP between 2017 and 2022 under the Jubilee party.
He however failed to retain his seat in the 2022 general election after being defeated by UDA’s Julius Ruto.
