Azimio la Umoja spokesperson Makau Mutua has faulted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua after he revealed his Christian name ‘Geoffrey’.
Speaking on Wednesday, June 7 at the National Prayer Breakfast meeting at Safari Park Hotel, Gachagua revealed that he opted to change his name for political reasons.
"For those who doubt my faith because I don't have a baptism name, I was baptized and my name is Geoffrey, but along the way. I decided to change the name to suit my new job description which was to serve the people," Gachagua said.
The second in command went on to say that his marriage to a pastor is another testament that he is indeed a committed Christian.

However, Mutua has slammed Gachagua; saying the name Geoffrey is an English, French, and Germany word that means divine peace.
“For the record, Geoffrey is not a Christian name. It is an English, French, and German masculine given name, which means divine peace,” said Mutua.
He added, “But I could be very wrong perhaps European names are Christian names.”
