Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has pledged to oppose any plans to remove of Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata as Senate Majority Chief Whip.
The Senator said he would lead Legislators in rejecting the ouster, should the Jubilee Party decide to initiate the removal process.
"If Jubilee Party Leadership calls for a meeting to remove Majority Whip Hon Kang'ata, we shall attend the meeting and vehemently oppose his ejection," Murkomen stated.
Murkomen further said the differences between him and Kanga'ata won't stop him from fighting any planned ouster
"It doesn’t matter what he did to Susan Kihika and I, we shall oppose," Murkomen tweeted.

Jubilee rebels
His sentiments on Tuesday, January 5 2021, came amid mixed reactions to a letter alleged to have been authored by Kang'ata to President Uhuru Kenyatta indicating that the BBI is not popular in Mt Kenya region.
In a letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta, Kang’ata argued that BBI was unpopular in the region, further stating that his survey had revealed that 6 out of 10 persons from the region will reject the initiative.
Jubilee Party Vice-chair David Murathe divulged that the party’s disciplinary committee will this week summon a section of its members who are perceived to be rebels.
Although Murathe did not mention names, it appears the party will be going for allies of Deputy President William Ruto who have been constantly criticizing the government and their party leader Uhuru Kenyatta.
