More than ten African Heads of State jetted into the country on Saturday, July 15 evening to attend the fifth mid-year Coordination Meeting of the African Union, Regional Communities, and Regional Mechanisms.
The Presidents include; Azzali Assoumani (Comoros), Ali Bongo (Gabon), Abdel Fattah (Egypt), Macky Sall (Senegal), Ismail Omar Guelleh (Djibouti), and Bola Ahmed Tinubu (Nigeria).
Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale received President El-Sisi at JKIA while Lands CS Zachariah Njeru received the Head of the Libyan Presidential Council Mohamed al-Menfi.
President Assoumani was received by CS Mithika Linturi, while President Bongo and President Sall were received by CS Susan Nakhumicha and CS Davis Chirchir respectively.
President William Ruto in a statement on Saturday night welcomed the leaders to Kenya saying the 5th Mid-Year Coordination meeting of the African Union is a crucial platform for the advancement of a shared vision to build a more prosperous and democratic Africa.

According to the African Union (AU), the meeting will assess the status of continental integration and coordinate efforts to accelerate the integration process.
It will also Coordinate and harmonize AU and REC policies with a view to accelerating Africa’s integration process and Identifying areas of cooperation and establishing mechanisms for regional, continental, and global cooperation in each sector or subsector.
The Mid-Year Coordination meeting will further coordinate the implementation of a clear division of labour and effective collaboration between the Union, RECs, RMs, and Member States, in line with the principle of subsidiarity, complementarity, and comparative advantage.
AU Chairperson Moussa Faki, President Ruto, and President Assoumani of Comoros will address the meeting.
