Murkomen's Appeal To Raila After Expulsion Of Rebel MPs

Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has urged ODM party leader Raila Odinga to let opposition MPs work with the government.  

Speaking on Wednesday, September 13 in Migori County, Murkomen said working with the ODM MPs will help to solve issues in their constituencies that are under his ministry.  

"Tell Raila, I have said as his son, because I want to be with you and address the issues related to my ministry, Let him allow these MPs so that we can work together. It's part of goodwill so that when I come to meet with the governors, senators, and members of parliament from the region, they will know that we have met with the government,” said Murkomen.

The Transport CS’s remarks come a week after the ODM National Executive Committee expelled MPs; Phelix Odiwuor (Lang’ata), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), and Kisumu Senator Tom  Ojienda.

The NEC accused the five lawmakers of openly associating with and supporting activities of the Kenya Kwanza government and opposing lawful decisions made by the ODM party organs.

The Raila Odinga-led party also fined Nyamita and Abuor Ksh 1 million over the same accusations.

The Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) has however temporarily barred the ODM party from expelling Jalang’o, Odhiambo, and Ojienda pending the hearing and determination of the matter.

The three also obtained orders barring their removal from the ODM party members list and removal from parliamentary committees.

President William Ruto on Wednesday held a meeting with the ODM rebel MPs at State House for nearly two hours. The meeting was also attended by Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo.
