The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has so far licensed only four companies offering digital taxi services.

In a press statement on Monday, NTSA Director General George Njao announced that only Uber, Bolt, Yego and Little cab have been given the requisite license to operate.

"In carrying outs its mandate and in line with the requirements of the NTSA Transport Network Companies (TNC), Drivers and Passenger Rules, 2022, the above companies are licenced to operate as Transport Network Companies," Njao said in a statement.

As of October 26, only six applications had been made.

"The Authority has so far received six applications and they are all at the validation stage prior to licensing of successful applicants," Njao said in the statement then.

He divulged that all licensed transport network companies will be published.

Operators have until November 30 to comply with reforms in the industry.
