Murathe who appeared at the EACC admitted to receiving Shs60 million from the veteran politician.

While explaining the nature of the transaction, Murathe said the amount was a debt repayment.

“It is political harassment and diversionary tactics. When they don’t know how to deal with challenges facing the country they look for things to divert,” Murathe said.

He added:

"I'm not involved in what the rest were doing with the county. What I know is Jirongo owed me money and I was paid. Where he got it from is none of my business."

Murathe was summoned alongside former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo, and Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli.

The summon was about an inquiry into the Sh200 million land saga in Nairobi.

Murathe has threatened to sue the EACC over the issue saying he was entitled to the money as debt repayment suggesting the summon has dealt his character a blow.
