President Uhuru Kenyatta has shared a glimpse of what he will do after he exits office next year.
President Uhuru’s second term in office will come to an end in 2022 amid talks that he plans to stay in power through the BBI process.
However, speaking during an interview on Monday morning, the Head of State dismissed talk on planning to stay in power.
President Uhuru noted that he will consider many activities like farming.
“With regards to what I will do once my term comes to an end, there are a lot of options. There is much work to do, such as farming and any other responsibility God gives me,” said President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Previously, COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli had insinuated that President Uhuru was still young to retire and the BBI should give him a position.
However, Kenyatta has since dismissed the talk.
During the interview, Kenyatta also stated that the problem facing BBI was that the perception created by BBI was about supporting one person and undermining another.
"I have never said that this is about supporting this person or undermining this other one. My goal is towards peace, unity, and the prosperity of the country," Uhuru said.
He further took a swipe at DP William Ruto’s camp for putting the focus on 2022 instead of serving Kenyans.
