NYS graduates are required to submit their applications by Friday, December 1, 2023.

The National Youth Service (NYS) has asked its graduates with agriculture related skills to apply for Seasonal Worker Scheme (SWS) jobs in the United Kingdom.

In a statement on Wednesday November 29, NYS said successful applicants will provide labour for UK farmers in an effort to meet their workforce demand for seasonal positions within the horticulture sector.

“We write to inform our esteemed Alumni of opportunities that exist in the UK particularly to Graduates with Agriculture qualifications,” read the statement in part.

NYS noted that a firm named HOPs labour solutions, an authorised operator in the UK and has been introduced to National Youth Service to carry out the recruitment of seasonal workers from National Youth Service Graduates with Agriculture qualification on 7th December 2023.

“The successful recruits will reside and work in the fruit and vegetable sector for a period of six months tentatively from February 2024. The pilot phase of a similar exercise was done in June 2023, and 45 students are currently working in the UK,” NYS noted.

Applicants are required to have graduated from NYS with agriculture-related Courses, be willing to reside and work in the UK for six months, and return at the end of the contract.

They must also have the ability to finance a passport processing fee of approximately Kshs 6,550, a return ticket (direct) of Kshs 192,500, a Visa Application fee of Kshs 45,325, sustainability amount of Kshs 30,000 to support living costs until the first pay is received.

The applicants are further required to be highly motivated and interested in practical farming, medically and physically fit, and be available to turn up for briefing and interviews at NYS Yatta Field Unit on 7th December 2023.

Update

The deadline for applying for the jobs lapsed on Friday, December 1. The NYS also issued a statement saying it got the maximum desired number of applicants.
