Senate Speaker Amason Kingi was compelled to suspend the assembly morning sittings after senators failed to show up for the morning session on Wednesday, December 6.
From the Senate live stream, only a handful of senators were present in the chambers when Kingi called the House to order.
However, he was forced to suspend the sitting noting the quorum did not the threshold required for the transaction of senate business.
Senate Standing Orders require 15 Senators to be in the chamber or attend virtually for the House to proceed with its business.

"Honourable Senators, there being no quorum and having rung the bell pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order 42 the Senate stands adjourned," Kingi announced.
Nonetheless, Kingi announced that another session would be convened on Wednesday afternoon December 6.
The County Assembly Services (Amendment) Bill, the Real Estate Regulation Bill and the Public Transport (Motorcycle Regulation ) were among the Bills lined up for debate in the Senate on Wednesday.
However, their progress will be determined by the quorum when the Senate reconvenes.
In the National Assembly, business went on as usual despite the drama that was witnessed on Tuesday, December 5. The legislators staged a walk-out over the State’s failure to release money meant for the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).
The Members of Parliament ended a Plenary session prematurely and broke into chants of ‘solidarity forever’ and ‘No CDF, No Parliament!’
During the walkout, National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro was among those who were forcefully ejected and blocked from accessing the chambers.
