The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company has announced an emergency water shutdown that will affect several estates in the city.
In a notice dated Thursday, December 14, Nairobi Water indicated that the emergency shutdown of the Sasumua-Kabete pipeline was due to a major leakage.
The maintenance exercise will start from Friday, 15 December at 7 a.m. to Sunday, 16 December at 7 a.m.
"The aim of the shutdown is to facilitate repairs of major leaks along the pipeline which if not contained will lead to major landslides resulting to more damage to the pipeline," read the notice.

Following the water supply disruption, Nairobi Water advised residents to use water sparingly.
"Whilst every effort will be made to restore the water supply, we request all customers in the affected areas to use their stored water sparingly during the period of interruption."
Areas Set to Be Affected
Areas around Lavington, Parklands, Loresho, Kilimani, Kangemi, Uthiru and Kawangware will have dry taps for 24 hours.
Others include areas along Dennis Pritt Road, Lang'ata Road, Peponi Road, Kikuyu Road, Naivasha Road, Mbagathi Road and River Side Drive.
Residents living in Nyayo Estate, Highrise, Dam Estate, Riruta, Lang'ata, Kibera, Ngumo and Woodly Estates will also experience supply interruption.
However, Nairobi Water pledged to restore supply after finishing the maintenance works on the affected line.
