A police officer attached to the Ngusishi police post in Buuri, Meru County on Wednesday shot himself dead inside his house at the station’s compound.
The corporal, who was in charge of the police post, shot himself at around 3 AM with his assigned AK47 rifle, according to a police report.
Police reported that his lifeless body was found in the morning of December 27, lying in a pool of blood in his house by his colleagues.
According to the report, the bullet went through and exited the forehead killing him instantly.

“The bullet penetrated via the base of the chin exiting at the forehead,” the report filed at Timau police station said.
A suicide note was found suggesting financial matters involving a relationship, it added.
The body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary awaiting an autopsy examination and further investigations into the incident.
The incident left other officers in shock as the deceased did not show any signs of being stressed or struggling with family issues.
