Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has yet again come to the rescue of renowned boxer Conjestina Achieng.
In a statement via X on Tuesday, January 16, Sonko said the gesture is the third and final chance for Conjestina.
“Even though our chances in Conjestina's healing journey were watered down, I'm a person who doesn't give up in life. It is for this reason that we have given Conjestina the third and last chance again on her case,” said Sonko.
The former county boss noted that the boxer has been admitted to the Mombasa Women Rehabilitation Centre where she will start her treatment afresh under the care of a group of specialists, including councillors, consultants and physiatrists.
“My special thanks go to the Mombasa Women's Hospital management led by the chief administrator, Hon. Amina Abdalla for accepting us back to the facility,” Sonko stated.

This comes barely a week after Sonko leaked a phone call conversation exposing the genesis of his misunderstanding with Conjestina.
From the phone calls, the boxer was upset after Sonko failed to secure her a plane ticket from Mombasa to Nairobi as flights were fully booked.
Conjestina was thus compelled to use a bus from Mombasa to Nairobi while Sonko's aides used the Standard Gauge Railway.
The former governor managed to secure a last-minute plane ticket to Nairobi but Conjestina reportedly showed displeasure for failing to secure a plane ticket and turned down offers from Sonko aides insisting that she wanted to go back home to Siaya.
"I needed to go to court and a warrant of arrest could have been issued against me if I failed. Conjestina was upset that I did not get her a plane ticket and put her on the bus. My team also travelled with SGR,” the former governor stated.
He added, "Others were criticising and accusing me of playing PR and vipindiree. I hereby wish to respond with facts as hereunder: Kenyans, I did my best to help Conje, but her family watered down my efforts.”
