Fresh details have emerged on the 22-year-old girl arrested and presented in court for impersonating a General Service Officer (GSU).
The 22-year-old identified as Jacinta Merlin Ouma was apprehended by police officers from Butula police station after a tip-off from members of the public.
The suspect who was en route to Butula police station dressed in a GSU uniform was ambushed and upon being questioned she did not have a job identification card.
“We suspected her while on duty at Bumala police and we had her arrested we found a lot of pictures in her phone with a full GSU uniform and a firearm but she could not explain herself well for example which police station she was stationed,” DCIO Felician Maru said.

After interrogation, police established that the suspect had reportedly roamed in different police stations across the country including Kabete police station, several police stations in Kisumu, and Busia posing as a police officer.
The suspect also told the court that she bought the uniform at the industrial area in Nairobi.
Moreover, she defended herself insisting that the firearm was given to her by a police officer while in Kabete police station just to take photos.
On Wednesday, January 17, the suspect was arraigned in Busia High Court before Magistrate Peter Olengo where she pleaded guilty to the impersonation charge.
She will be remanded at Bumala police station for 21 days to enable police to complete their investigations.
