The National Youth Service (NYS) has advertised for the nationwide recruitment of volunteers.
According to a notice released on Wednesday, January 24, the recruitment drive will run from 5th to 9th, February in various counties.
"Are you interested in joining the National Youth Service as a Volunteer Serviceman or Servicewoman? We have advertised a Countrywide recruitment exercise from 5th to 9th, February 2024," NYS announced.
The volunteering exercise will help successful applicants gain relevant competitive skills required in various job markets.
They will also be deployed by the government to carry out various tasks.

Requirements
All prospective candidates wishing to be enlisted must meet the following conditions:
Applicants must have a mean Grade of D plain and above in KCSE
Produce Original National Identity Cards and academic certificates (and avail one set of photocopies of the same at the recruitment
Be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective sub-county of recruitment.
The recruitment age is from 18 to 24 years
Must have certificate of Good Conduct.
Must be ready to undergo medical check-ups during and after the recruitment exercise.
Be prepared t Ito undergo rigorous physical training.
Be prepared to give voluntary service to the Nation in any part of the Republic of Kenya.
"N/B Orphans who meet the qualification requirements as stated above will be given special preference subject to production of sufficient documentary proof such as parents death Certificates or burial permits," NYS indicated.
Successful candidates will report for the NYS paramilitary Course at NYS College, Gilgil and Naivasha on dates and times specified in their respective calling letters to be issued.
"Persons with disability are also encouraged to avail themselves for the recruitment exercise in their respective sub counties and centers provided they are able to withstand the rigorous physical training," the notice made it clear.
The recruitment drive is expected to attract many Kenyans after President William Ruto announced several reforms in the sector.
The President said the government will increase the salaries of NYS servicemen and women to improve their welfare.
He observed that The NYS has adopted a business model that will generate revenues to sustain its programmes and test its outputs in the marketplace to improve its relevance and competitiveness constantly.
The goal, he added, is to ensure the institution can enrol up to 100,000 youth annually and equip them with the relevant skills to power the Bottom-Up Empowerment Transformation Agenda (BETA).
