Wahome announced that the deadline which was set for Monday, February 26 has been extended until KUCCPS ascertains that all targeted students have applied.
Explaining the decision, KUCCPS noted that most students had encountered challenges since it was their first time interacting with the portal.
"During the ongoing application process, every student is a first-time applicant since KUCCPS discontinued applications at the school level," KUCCPS explained.
The migration of services to eCitizen has also affected the application process with KUCCPS admitting that processing of the payments had forced some to pay twice.

"Since payments for Government services have been migrated to the eCitizen platform, the process of payment validation for the KUCCPS application is longer than before. Applicants are advised to avoid making double payments."
To avoid locking out candidates, KUCCPS made it clear that the processing of the applications would start once applicants have submitted their courses.
"The processing of applications for placement will start once KUCCPS is sure all applicants have submitted their course choices based on the targeted number of students. Therefore, no one will be disadvantaged on the basis of the day or time they made their applications," KUCCPS insisted.
"After the first placement exercise, there will be two revision opportunities that will be provided for students who will not have applied, or those who will not have secured their selected courses, to reapply. KUCCPS is working closely with relevant stakeholders in Government to ensure that all applicants are enabled to submit their choices in the spirit of leaving no student behind," Wahome maintained.
The application process was opened on February 7 allowing students who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) to apply for various courses.
However, most have encountered challenges including having difficulties in accessing the portal and submitting payments via eCitizen.
This left many students stranded with the deadline fast approaching. However, the adjustment will give them time to apply for their preferred courses and universities.
