Transport Cabinet Secretary Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen has responded to concerns over hitches experienced by motorists seeking National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) services through the eCitizen platform.
Appearing before the Senate, Murkomen owned up to the issue affecting hundreds of motorists which he noted was due to the migration of data from the Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS) portal to eCitizen.
However, the Cabinet Secretary indicated the transfer is now completed and services are up and running.
To avert further hitches, Murkomen noted that he has collaborated with NTSA to hire services of trained individuals who will sort out the issues in real-time.

"The system is up and running. It may experience some hitches because we are still in that process of maintenance and seeing how it performs," Murkomen responded.
"We have put in place officers who are on standby to make sure that if the system fluctuates, we respond immediately," he added.
The question was raised by Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda who noted that some motorists were stranded over eCitizen hitch.
Ojienda said that some motorists and car owners were unable to transfer logbooks or make registrations, hitches that have hurt their cash flow due to stalled processing of payments from banks for cars bought through asset financing.
The senator pointed out that the system has been down most of the time since it migrated to eCitizen, stalling efforts to transfer logbooks which are critical for banks to pay dealers for the cars whose purchases have been significantly covered via bank loans.
However, Murkomen insisted that the issue has now been addressed comprehensively.
