Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has directed police officers in Matungulu, Machakos County to launch a manhunt for members of criminal gangs hiding in Tala Township.
Speaking on Friday, March 22 during a security briefing with security heads in Machakos County, Kindiki said Tala town should not be used as a hideout for criminals running away from Nairobi.
“I have directed the team in Matungulu under the supervision of the county team from Machakos to make sure that Tala town because of its proximity to Nairobi should not be used as a hideout for criminals who may be running away from some of the operations, we are carrying out in Nairobi’s Eastlands area,” said Kindiki.
According to the Ministry of Interior, intelligence reports indicate that some of the criminal gangs that have been terrorizing the residents of Nairobi's Eastlands have their hideouts in the suburbs of Tala Township from where they plan and coordinate their dangerous activities.

“I have also directed the Sub County team to check whether some of our children, especially from Nairobi and Machakos whether there could be a possibility of being exposed to alcohol or dangerous and harmful practices including child pornography and trafficking,” Kindiki added.
Further, Kindiki said all licenses of manufacturers and distillers of second-generation alcoholic drinks would remain suspended and production prohibited until the completion of ongoing vetting is concluded.
