The section of the road which connects the city to Westlands and other satellite estates was exposed for being in bad shape.

The Kenya National and Highways Authority (KeNHA) has finally responded to wide concerns over a dangerous stretch along Waiyaki Way.

The section of the road which connects the city to Westlands and other satellite estates was exposed for being in bad shape.

According to motorists, the stretch opposite Villa Rosa Kempinski had a big pothole. What made the situation worse was that it was filled with water making it difficult for motorists to notice it

However, KeNHA has decided to deploy a team to fix the area to assure motorists' safety on the road.

Contractors repairing Waiyaki Way on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.

According to the authority, the section will be repaired and then later, the whole road will be recarpeted. This is because the road is not smooth around that area.

The situation has been worsened by poor drainage forcing all the rain water to remain stagnant on the road.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority wishes to inform the public that the contractor has continued with the repair works on Waiyaki Way, towards Westlands, ahead of new surface dressing," KeNHA announced.

"The Authority will ensure your safety and convenience remain our utmost concern. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we endeavour to enhance our road infrastructure."

Before deploying contractors to fix the area, some motorists had complained that the deep portal was ruining their vehicles.

Further reports indicate that a car had a tyre bust after hitting the portal at high speed.
