Former Finance Minister Mzee Simeon Nyachae is dead.
According to the family, the veteran politician died on Monday morning at the Nairobi Hospital after a long battle with illness.
He died aged 88 years.
Mzee Nyachae will be remembered for his long service to the Kisii people as Member of Parliament for Nyaribari Chache.

In 2002, he vied for the presidential seat and came third behind NARC's Mwai Kibaki and KANU's Uhuru Kenyatta.
