Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has hit out at Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru over the Mt Kenya politics.
In a statement via X on Wednesday, May 22, Wamuchomba told the Kirinyaga Governor to stop lecturing Mt Kenya leaders on who should speak about what in the region.
The UDA MP accused Governor Waiguru of keeping quiet while the Mt Kenya region is struggling with economic stress, closure of businesses, and alcoholism.
“You are the Chair of Council of Governors sitting pretty as we struggle with the rising economic stress, closing businesses, alcoholism, and neglect of projects by Kenya Kwanza regime which you are now defending online,” Wamuchomba stated.
She questioned Waiguru on why coffee farmers are not receiving a cherry fund of Sh 80 per kg as agreed during the coffee forums.

Wamuchomba also demanded an explanation on why individuals from the Mt Kenya region were allegedly sacked from the government.
“Why are our people being fired in Government as you watch? Why are we importing milk from Other countries yet our farmers are struggling to get their milk to processors? What happened to the Kenol-Marua Road completion? What happened to Mau Mau roads completion? What happened to Ruiru 2 dam construction? Wamuchomba questioned.
Further, the Githunguri MP said the Mt Kenya region is fully behind the 'One Man, One Shilling, One Vote' and asked Waiguru to join the agenda.
“By the way here at home we are speaking the language of One Man One Shilling while you are away. Prepare to either join us or keep quiet,” Wamuchomba added.
Waiguru on May 16 told off Mt Kenya leaders over the Limuru III conference saying those in government had no time for politics when they were mandated to work for Kenyans.
“We gave promises as the UDA party during campaigns. Now we are working. Those going around saying Limuru Three, Limuru Two, we want to tell them that at this time, we are working,” Waiguru said.
