Kenyans have taken to social media to question the recent abductions of young people by security agencies.
On Sunday, June 23 evening, Shadrack Kiprono alias Shad Khalif who has been vocal protesting against the proposed new taxes in the controversial Finance Bill 2024 was abducted outside a shopping Centre in Nairobi’s South B area by men suspected to be plain-clothed detectives.
In a CCTV video which has since gone viral on social media, Khalif is seen being out in a white Toyota Prado before it drives away.
Before his arrest, Khalif conducted interviews explaining his involvement in the anti-finance bill protests.

His abduction came hours after that of Dr. Austin Omondi alias Ja Prado. The medic was kidnapped while conducting a blood donation drive to aid injured protestors along Forest Road in Nairobi.
He was however released on Sunday evening following outrage from Kenyans and other medics.
On Friday, June 21 renowned blogger Billy Simani, alias Crazy Nairobian was arrested and was freed on Saturday, June 22 evening.
In a statement after being released, the X influencer thanked the Law Society of Kenya President Faith Odhiambo for her intervention.
"I'm safe guys, thanks to all of you for your concern, and thanks to the LSK President Faith Odhiambo who did everything to ensure my safety and release," he posted on X.
Attorney General Justine Mutrui’s son Leslie Muturi was also reportedly arrested by Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) officers on Saturday night in Lavington.
His abduction was revealed by Embakasi West MP Mark Mwenje. Leslie was however released on Sunday evening.
The recent abduction of the youth who have been protesting the Finance Bill 2024 has raised questions from netizens including politicians.
Kenyans across the country have condemned the abductions and use of state machinery to intimidate youth who are exercising their democractic right.
