Several former Cabinet Secretaries have reacted after President William Ruto dismissed his entire Cabinet except the Prime CS on Thursday, July 11. 

In a statement soon after the dismissal, former Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen thanked the Head of State for the opportunity to serve.

"It has been my greatest privilege and honor to serve my country as a Cabinet Secretary in charge of Roads and Transport. Thank you Mr. President for giving me the opportunity. God bless you and God bless Kenya," he posted on X.

Similarly, former CS for Health Susan Nakhumicha expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve in the docket, adding that she was proud of the MOH team for the reforms in the ministry.

"I am grateful to H.E. the President for giving me the opportunity to lead the rollout of Universal Health Coverage (UHC), which is one of the government’s flagship programmes.

"It has been a busy 21 months where we initiated far-reaching reforms in the health sector, both legislatively and policy-wise, to lay a firm foundation for the realisation of UHC. Proud of Ministry of Health team who midwifed these reforms, development partners and the legislature that passed the bills," Nakhumicha remarked.

On his part, former Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi noted he was proud of the achievements in the agricultural sector since his appointment, among them the delivery of subsidized fertilizer under the national fertilizer subsidy programme.

Linturi also thanked the president for entrusting him with the leadership of the ministry, saying it was a humbling experience.

"I’m profoundly thankful to H.E. President William Ruto for the trust and confidence he placed in me by appointing me as the CS for Agriculture & Livestock Development. I thank all Kenyans and stakeholders in the agricultural sector for their support during my tenure in office," Linturi remarked.

Former Education CS Ezekiel Machogu stated, "For nearly 20 months, I have had a fulfilling and highly enriching experience serving as Cabinet Secretary of one of Kenya’s most important sectors - Education. I wish to thank H.E. President William Ruto for trusting me with this honour, and I owe it to him for all the major milestones we achieved within such a short time as we provided education to our gallant children."

On her part, former Gender CS Aisha Jumwa said, "It was such an honour to serve as a Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage under the leadership of President William Ruto. I am glad that I got the chance to serve the people of our great nation. Thank you Mr. President and I wish you well."

Meanwhile, speaking after the decision on Thursday, President Ruto said Principal Secretaries will oversee government operations in the interim and will announce the next steps in due course.
