The president maintained that the killing of any Kenyan was against the law.

President William Ruto has ordered the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to expedite investigations into the discovery of mutilated bodies at a dumpsite in Mukuru kwa Njenga, Nairobi.

Speaking at Kaptagat, Elgeyo-Marakwet County, on Saturday, July 13, the Head of State affirmed that those behind the killings will be held to account.

"Nine bodies have been retrieved from Kware dumpsite in Mukuru kwa Njenga, majority being bodies of women. I have ordered the police, DCI and other investigative agencies to unravel how the incident occurred. I want to assure Kenyans that action will be taken against those who were involved in the killings," President Ruto remarked.

The president maintained that the killing of any Kenyan was against the law, adding that the truth about the incident must be found.

"Those who are charged with making sure that there is a comprehensive investigation on matters we have witnessed in Mukuru, that process must be expedited and the truth must be found so that those who are involved in this heinous act must be punished and must be taken to court," the president added.

His remarks came even as the DCI disclosed on Saturday that three more human bodies were retrieved from the dumpsite in Mukuru.

The directorate intimated that the bodies were contained in three bags of the five retrieved from the site. Two bags contained a dog carcass and garbage.

"We want to assure the public that our investigations will be thorough and shall cover a wide range of areas, including but not limited to the possible activities of cultists and serial killings," DCI stated.

Meanwhile, First Lady Rachel Ruto has condemned the incident, maintaining that violence against women must end.

"The discovery of the mutilated bodies of young women dumped in Kware, Nairobi, is deeply disturbing and heartbreaking. Each of these women was someone's child, sister or friend and no one should undergo such cruelty. Violence against women must end in our country.  No parent should ever have to bury their child, especially under such circumstances," the First Lady remarked.
