President William Ruto has expressed his sympathies to former U.S. President Donald Trump following an assassination attempt against him on Saturday, July 13.
In a statement on Tuesday, July 17, President Ruto condemned the incident, even as he wished Trump a speedy recovery.
"On behalf of the people and government of the Republic of Kenya, I wish to add my voice to those condemning the recent attempted assassination of former U.S. President Donald J. Trump. I extend my deepest sympathies to President Trump, his family, and the families of the victims of this shocking, heinous act," President Ruto remarked.
He further maintained that the Kenyan government will continue with the democratic values it shares with United States government.
"In these troubling times, I take this opportunity to recommit to the democratic ideals we share with the people of the United States of America. Wishing Donald Trump a speedy and full recovery," the president added.

According to the U.S. Secret Service, a suspect implicated in the incident was neutralised.
"The Secret Service is working with all involved Federal, state and local agencies to understand what happened, how it happened, and how we can prevent an incident like this from ever taking place again," U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle stated.
U.S. President Joe Biden condemned the incident, maintaining that there was no place for violence in America.
"There's no place in America for this kind of violence or any violence. An assassination attempt is contrary to everything we stand for as a nation. It’s not America, and we cannot allow this to happen," he remarked.
