"We know the salary of a minister."

Lawyer Donald Kipkorir has warned Water Cabinet Secretary nominee Eric Muriithi Mugaa against amassing wealth in a short period of time.

In a statement on Monday, July 22, Kipkorir noted that the 32-year-old's background had been shown on national television and that it was a humble one.

"Eng. Eric Muriithi Muuga, 32, is our incoming Water, Sanitation & Irrigation Minister. On national television, we saw their humble timber home in the village. We saw his parents and siblings.

"We hope & pray that in less than two years, he will not be owning a Sh150 million house in Karen, build a Sh50 million house in the village, wear designer watches (he is wearing none now), drive big cars and tell us it is money from coconut farming in Kilifi!" Kipkorir remarked.

The lawyer further asserted that a CS's salary was known, maintaining that he was not able to do that as an engineer for eight years.

"In eight years as an Engineer, he hadn’t done this. What magic will two years as a minister do? We know the salary of a minister. Let him not steal dams money. Life of a thief is transient & ends badly!" he cautioned.

Mugaa was the youngest CS nominee announced by President William Ruto when he unveiled his first batch of 11 CSs in the new broad-based cabinet on Friday, July 19.

He is a registered graduate engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) and a registered graduate engineer with the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).

The 32-year-old has worked as a design engineer for the Kenya Towns Sustainable Water and Supply Sanitation Program and as an assistant project engineer for the Water and Sanitation Development Project (WSDP) and KIMAWASCO.
