Minimum temperatures will reach 8°C in the highlands east of the Rift Valley, which includes Nairobi County.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned of continued rainfall for the next five days.

In a statement on Friday, July 26, the Director of Meteorological Services Kennedy Thiong’o said the rains will be experienced in parts of the east and west highlands of Rift Valley, Lake Victoria basin, central Rift Valley, and northwestern Kenya.

Thiong’o also noted that parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, and the Rift Valley would experience intermittent cool and cloudy conditions.

“Rainfall is expected to continue over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central Rift Valley, and North-western Kenya.

“Intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Rift Valley,” said Thiong’o.

The highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley regions will experience showers and thunderstorms over a few places on Saturday afternoon and light showers at night with minimum temperatures of 9°C.

The highlands East of the Rift Valley which includes Nairobi County will experience light showers in the morning which will escalate in the afternoon and at night. The minimum temperatures will reach 8°C.

The south-eastern lowlands which include Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta Counties will experience cloudy breaking into sunny intervals while the coast region will be sunny and partly cloudy.
