Police officers have raided Jimmy Wanjigi's home.

A contingent of police officers has surrounded businessman Jimi Wanjigi’s residence in Muthaiga, Nairobi County.

In a statement via his X account on Thursday, August 8, Wanjigi confirmed the police presence saying the officers were outside his home.

“The police have decided to raid my home,” the renowned businessman stated.

A video seen by nairobileo.co.ke showed police officers in full combat gear at the gate of Wanjigi’s residence.

In another video, the police were seen conducting a search on a Toyota Land Cruiser TX vehicle outside the business mogul’s home.

The officers were also spotted screening items from the vehicle including a walkie-talkie, a pair of binoculars, and assorted electronic items.

Reports indicate that Wanjigi was spotted along Limuru Road while dishing out money to people.

He was reportedly chased by the police before he drove off and disappeared into Karura Forest.

Wanjigi is a strong critic of the incumbent Kenya Kwanza government and has been in support of the ongoing anti-government protests.

This is not the first time, Wanjigi’s residence has been raided. In January 2022 police officers raided Wanjigi’s office in Westlands.

In October 2017, the police also raided Wanjigi’s Mutahiga home for several hours with opposition leaders including Raila Odinga coming out to show solidarity with Wanjigi.

Wanjigi's Lawyer Osiemo said the move by the police to surround his client's residence was political harassment.

"Obviously, you know the political history, it is just political harassment that every Kenyan and now he is facing. He has faced this before. We are prepared for any eventuality. I believe these are all politics," he stated.
