Azimio leader Raila Odinga will be the chief guest at the Festac Africa 2024 opening ceremony on Monday, August 26, in Kisumu.
In a statement on Saturday, August 10, Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o said Festac Africa 2024 is a continental festival that celebrates culture, fashion, and music among others, while promoting intra-African trade.
The county boss disclosed that the festival will run from August 25 to September 1 at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium.
"From August 25 to September 1, 2024, Kisumu will host Festac Africa 2024, the continent's largest festival celebrating culture, fashion, music, dance, travel, tourism, trade, investment, arts, crafts, poetry, sports, and food while promoting Intra Africa Trade.
"The 5th World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture will feature a wide array of summits, including Trade and Investment, Fashion, Women Empowerment, Real Estate, Writers Retreat, Poetry, Food Security, Sports, Climate Change, and a Youth Summit," Nyong'o remarked.

The governor invited all Kenyans to the event, noting that over 100 artists from across Africa will perform.
"I warmly invite all Kenyans and the international to Kisumu for this extraordinary event at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium Kisumu. The Chief Guest will be Raila Odinga, the Kenyan candidate for African Union Chairperson," Nyong'o stated.
He added that the festival will offer unique opportunities for collaboration, partnerships, and business prospects with the Lake Region Economic Bloc
According to the organisers of the event, a week-long ticket will cost Sh2,000 while a one-day ticket will cost Sh500.
Nyong'o, however, said that the opening ceremony will be free.
