"Tanzania says Baba anatosha, achaguliwe."

President Samia Suluhu of Tanzania has assured Kenya of Tanzania's full support for Azimio leader Raila Odinga's African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship bid.

Speaking at State House Nairobi on Tuesday, August 27, Suluhu affirmed that Raila was a pan-Africanist leader who believed in African intergration.

The Tanzanian Head of State further added that the Azimio leader was well versed with the development concerns of Africa.

"The government of the United Republic of Tanzania endorses the candidature of Raila Odinga. Tanzania knows Raila as a pan-Africanist leader who believes not only in the promise of African integration but also in its practicality.

"He has maintained close relations with successful generations in Tanzanian leaders as well many African leaders and partners who hold him in high esteem. He is well versed with the development concerns of our continent," Suluhu remarked.

At the same time, she noted that she knows Raila as a wise statesman who can be a strong advocate for advancing Africa's development priorities.

"Personally, I know baba Odinga, my kaka, not only as a wise statesman but also as one who can make a strong case in advancing Africa’s development priorities. It is on this note that Tanzania assures Kenya of its full support of the candidature of Raila Odinga for the position of AUC Chairperson and Tanzania says 'Baba anatosha, achaguliwe'," Suluhu stated.

Meanwhile, Raila maintained that he was ready to serve the continent as he asked the African Heads of State for their support.

"Your excellencies, I'm ready to serve. My heart is ready and my hands are steady and with your support I shall get the opportunity to be of service to Africa, the cradle of mankind. I am made in Eastern Africa for Africa," Raila affirmed.
